FAQs
How can I contact the DPC?
If you wish to contact the Data Protection Commission (DPC) in relation to your data protection rights, you can do so by submitting a webform, by sending an email, by post or by telephone.
Webform: The most effective way to contact the DPC regarding queries or concerns you may have is by means of completing, in full, the questions asked on our webform (which can be accessed on our website). The webform is specifically designed to direct you in terms of providing the DPC with the most relevant information it requires to assist you with your data protection query or concern. Once the DPC has reviewed all the required information contained in the webform, it can then address your data protection concern more efficiently. You can access the webform on the 'Contact Us Online' section of the DPC website.
Email: You can also contact the DPC by emailing info@dataprotection.ie, setting out your data protection concerns. You should attach copies of correspondence where you have raised your concern with the data controller. If you have received a response from the data controller, then a copy of their response can also be submitted.
Post: You can contact the DPC by post, setting out your data protection concerns and sending the correspondence to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2 D02 RD28.
Telephone: If you wish to speak with an officer in the DPC, you can contact the Helpdesk at (01) 765 01 00 or 1800 437 437, Monday to Friday from 9.30am – 1pm and from 2pm – 5pm.
If, however, you are not in a position to engage with this office by the above mentioned means, please contact our Accessibility Officer.
However, it is important to note that when contacting the Helpdesk, you will only be provided with general information on data protection rights. The DPC is not in a position to accept complaints over the telephone; they will need to be submitted in writing, preferably by way of webform (available on the website). The DPC cannot provide you with information on the status of a complaint you may have lodged or on the status of an inquiry which the DPC is undertaking.
