The Data Protection Commission (DPC), as part of the Digital Regulators Group (DRG), welcomes the publication of Digital Ireland – Connecting our People, Securing our Future, the National Digital & AI Strategy 2030.
The DPC, along with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM), and the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) – strongly support the Strategy’s ambition to position Ireland as a trusted, future‑focused digital regulatory hub.
The DRG welcomes the Government’s commitment to strengthening the DRG, enhancing regulatory coordination, and in particular, ensuring that Ireland’s digital regulators are well‑resourced to meet the challenges presented in the digital space. Improved cooperation, streamlined regulatory processes and stronger cross‑agency engagement are important tools to provide a strong regulatory environment for people and businesses alike.
The DRG looks forward to continued collaboration across regulators and government in advancing a fair digital economy.
Commissioner for Data Protection, Des Hogan remarked:
“Ireland’s National Digital & AI Strategy 2030 acknowledges that delivering a predictable, efficient and streamlined regulatory environment is predicated on well-resourced digital regulators. The DPC welcomes the Strategy’s recognition of the Digital Regulators Group and the importance of deepening cross-agency cooperation across the digital regulatory landscape. This collaborative approach will help foster responsible innovation while safeguarding individuals’ rights and maintaining public trust in emerging technologies.
